Track a Stolen Laptop with Adeona

Today we are going to show you how to track your stolen laptop using a free software called " ADEONA".

This tracking system send updates regarding the current location of the device to a remotely administered repository. If the device is lost or stolen, but maintains Internet connectivity and unmodified software, the tracking system can keep tabs on the current whereabouts of the device.

This software can also take the picture of the culprit or the thief. So lets get started.

Just Follow the below Steps :

1. Go to www.google.com and type Adeona

2. Click on the First link which appears in the search box and it will direct you to http://adeona.cs.washington.edu/

3. Now click on the Download Option present at the top.

4. Now select your Operating System and it will automatically start downloading.

5. After installation , Open the file and it will ask you to give any password . Just give your password.

6. After clicking next, a command prompt will appear and so here it begins. Every 30 minutes your location will be send to their Servers .

7. Now close it and open your Desktop. You will see a file named "adeona-retrievecredentials.ost" there. Never Delete that file.

8. Now go to start, search for "Run Adeona Recovery". when it opens..open the file adeona-retrievecredentials.ost which is in the desktop.

9. Now you will get a screen where it will ask to input the date and time. Just leave it blank and click next.

10. It will ask how many locations should be attempt to find. Give it as per your choice , I will go for 1 ( i.e. by default ). Click Next , It will ask for you Adeona Password . Just type it. and Click Next.

11. Now it will ask to launch the Recovery program > Click on Next to launch it

12. Now again a command prompt will open, then press any key and open your Desktop again. A new folder is created with name something like adeonaretrieval-07-15-2012-1330 . Open it, you will get a text file.

13. Now all the information is with you , showing you where your computer is located , Server name , Port etc. and just take this to the Police and they will do the rest for you.
